Why Join the CIRRCLE Lab?

Students who join the CIRRCLE Lab gain direct research experience while meaningfully contributing to ongoing projects and have the opportunity to pursue independent research. URAs interested in pursuing independent research are highly encouraged to seek researching funding and fellowship opportunities through LUROP.

What experiences can I gain as an Undergraduate Research Assistant?

Data Management

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous research experience?

Previous research experience is not required to join the CIRRCLE lab as an undergraduate research assistant! We welcome applicants who are interested in research in equity, mental health, and education.

Can first-year students apply?

Yes! First and second years interested in hands-on research and pursuing graduate study are encouraged to apply! 

Is course credit available?

To be a part of CIRRCLE lab, undergraduate research assistants (URAs) may be enrolled in PSYC397 (Independent Research), 399 (Special Studies in Psych), or the 369/370 sequence (Honors in Psychology). Under rare circumstances, URAs may opt to volunteer in the lab without receiving course credit. All URAs are expected to dedicate at least 3 hours per week (equivalent to 1 credit hour) for lab tasks, and more according to enrolled credit. Generally, these hours will be split between 1hr weekly lab meetings, 1hr in the lab, and 1hr independently completing assigned tasks.
